The show goes on at this busy expo center, thanks to durability and simplified maintenance of nora® flooring.
The 522,000-square-foot Northlands Exposition Center in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, holds expositions, trade shows and conferences with on-site catering facilities. Originally created in 1879 as a nonprofit agricultural society for farmers, ranchers and agriculturalists to meet and share information about their industries, Northlands now welcomes more than four million people annually to the 2,500 events it hosts in its exhibit hall, arena and track.
With so much going on in the expo center, the facility needed a floor covering that would be resilient, easy to maintain and long lasting. “The floor covering had to stand up to the tremendous amount of foot traffic the center sees,” says Timothy Cartwell, the expo center’s director of facilities and infrastructure. Along with pedestrian traffic, the corridors see forklift activity from exhibitors bringing in products, making durability another important requirement.
To meet the need for a resilient, durable surface, the facility used a combination of norament® luxor and norament® serra. This flooring solution brings color, texture and durability to entrance ways, corridors and even restrooms.
The sophisticated slate appearance ties the flooring to the aesthetics and design of the facility. Another advantage of nora flooring in the expo center is the simplified upkeep. Cleaning and maintenance can take place around the facility’s busy event schedule.
The durability and resilience of nora withstands the constant foot traffic and machine use inside the bustling expo center. See how well nora performs at the Northlands Exposition Center in the full project profile.
